Hi John,
Well as Spring has finally arrived in Michigan I've had a chance to play a
few rounds with the Elevon utility club. I wrote you shortly after
purchasing it and I said that I was amazed that I was able to hit is so
straight in the indoor golf dome this winter. The true test though is
always the golf course with its uneven lies, the differing heights of
fairway and rough, the wind, etc. Well, after a few rounds I can only say
that I just wish that I could hit all my other clubs as beautifully as I hit
the Elevon. It is truly amazing! It is going as straight as an arrow and
at a very high and arcing trajectory. My only concern is that I seem to be
hitting it too far. I assumed that it would be about a 180-190 yard club for me but in my last round at Reddeman Farms in Chelsea, I had three very long shots (each shot was around 200 yards). The Elevon hit it straight at
the flag and and the ball landed on the green but rolled off the back edge. I have to re-evaluate my distances with this club. I love it. You said that you might be working on a 23* version. Any progress? Please let me know. Also I want to say that the 3 wood I bought from you (Advanced
Golf Technologies) is another AMAZING club which I seem to be hitting very straight and long most of the time. Thanks for all your help and for these wonderful golf clubs.
Mark
John:
I have a couple of your Elevon tour hybrids . . . . one with the True Temper Crossfire steel shaft and one with the AccuFlex Icon HL graphite shaft. After having owned and played the TaylorMade Rescues, Nickent 3dxs and Callaway Heavenwoods I must say that your hybrids are without a doubt one of the best on the market today. They are easy-to-hit and fly straighter, higher and farther more consistently than any of the others. Mike

I am e-mailing you to thank you for the elevon wood that I received from you.it is by far the best club that I have. This club does everything that you want it to
do. On holes that are just aroung 200 yrds I used to hit the ball all over the place, with this club you just line it up and hit it
straight.Ii have cut about five to six strokes off my score in just a few weeks. Ray

Hello John:

I couldn't be more pleased with my new Elevon. I've used it now for 5 rounds and have putted for eagle 7 times on our 3 par 5 holes (unfortunately didn't make any of the putts — do have any magic putters for sale?). The 16 degree 4 wood is out of the bag, replaced by the 20 degree elevon. I actually hit it about the same distance as the 4 wood (200-225), which is interesting given the loft difference, and more consistently straight.

Ed

By the way I've never hit a club so sweet as the Evelon. I've never had a club I could hit 200 off the fairway, I only hit about 225 off the tee box, but I do now. My par 3 is only 185, so I go back and play the tips so I can hit the Evelon 215 yds, it's simple amazing.
Jerry

Well it's been about a week since I picked up the Elevon Hybrid .  I've practiced every day (almost) at the golf dome in Ann Arbor.  The very first time I hit the Elevon, I hit perfect shots - straight with little or no draw or fade.  I wanted to immediately rush home and email you with the highest praise for this amazing club, but I thought, "No.  If you gush over this club after ONE practice session, he will think you are an idiot."  So I went back, day after day and each time I hit balls with the Elevon, I was amazed at the incredible consistency of the ball flight, the trajectory, and the lack of side-spin off the face.  So now, after a week, I can definitely say it is the best hybrid club I've ever tried (and I've tried plenty!).  I know that hitting off of artificial turf mats in the dome is not really a proper test, but I can not wait to try this club on the course. Unfortunately I'll be in the dome from now till Spring.  Let me know when you plan to offer a 23* or 24* Elevon.  If it is as square and true as the 20* I want one. Thanks again.
Mark

John, I tried the new Elevon 20* Hybrid with the Accuflex icon hybrid shaft. For many of the good players like myself who fear playing hybrids because they are such hook machines I was delighted to find that this one is not !
I saw a few of guys trying it at the range, and inquired about it. One had just gotten back from THE GATEWAY TOUR on the Pacific Coast and two other guys that definitely were not playing any tour. As I watched them hit the Elevon, I saw the pro hitting gentle fades and draws at will around 240-250yds. One of the amateurs that was with him, well , it was the only club I saw this guy hit on the range. And he hit it remarkably well given his swing and performance, with the other clubs he used. Most of his shots with the Elevon were 200-210 yds. and were all near the green on the range.
I asked about the club and tried it myself. I liked that it set very square. I didn't have near the fear of getting double crossed trying to fit a fade with it like all other hybrids I've seen. All I had to do was point the face where I wanted the ball to go and swing. I could hit any shot I wanted at will. I am now using this club to replace my 3 iron and my 19* fairway metal. It allows me the ability to hit soft fades into the green as well as the "stinger" type of shot when needed. It works so well replacing those two clubs that in addition to the shots the Elevon has saved me, it allows me to carry an extra wedge which has helped me save an extra shot or two near the green as well.

Thank you and your friends at the range for introducing the ELEVON to me, and when you talk to them tell them "TIN CUP" says HI !!

Hello John
I played five rounds this weekend using the elevon.
1) Great on 200yds+ par 3 holes. ( hit the green every time during all 5 rounds)
2) Used for 3 wood style chips
3) Can choke down and hit shots that would require a 4 iron.
4) Hit a few stinger type shots ( Ball back in stance and shortened follow through) result a low boring shot that runs about 175 - 200 yds)
5) Great on tight fairway par fives for second shot when the desired result is to be 100yds from green for third shot.
6) Full release grip felt a little strange at first but allows for a very relaxed grip pressure.

Overall this club is now my favourite.

I can now leave my 3 and 4 iron out of the bag and carry an extra wedge.

Richard

I also wanted to let you know how good the elevon hybrid is. I cant believe how much better it is than any other hybrid I have tried, and I've tried a few!!! My 4+ Callaway got shown the door in favour of the elevon. Let me know when an 18 degree model comes out, it's sold!
Many thanks for your help as always.

Glen

What a club!! Grip took a little getting used to but this is one solid machine. TT Crossfire is perfect for me. I love being able to cut this back into the wind-throttle back on it a little-and did I mention that it is great around the green. 5 wood is resting on the sideline as is 22* Taylor Rescue.
Only complaint I have is-WHEN CAN I GET THE 24*?!?!
Thanks a bunch
Kevin

I wanted to let you know that I am very pleased with your Elevon hybrid. It is a very fine club and easy to hit. You should consider to develop with the same concept a strong 4-5 fairway wood, maybe an 18 degree. I think will be a great addiction, especially if you design it with the same not shallow face of the Elevon. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Freddy

John, just thought I'd let you know I loved the club. Just what I wanted 200
to 210 and straight. If you ever do different lofts let me know. I'd be
interested in something in the 23*-24* range.
Thanks Again
Randy

I've had the Elevon in the bag for four rounds thus far and it has been
great. It has replaced my 2 & 3 irons. It is stupid easy to hit even
from bad lies and is absolutely a savior on long par 4's. Thanks a
million.

Ron

before i ask the question i need to tell you that the elevon is a hell of a head. it plays as good as it looks and is everything and more that you described..thanks
Don

Still loving my elevon. Closest I ever came to double eagle on Sunday. Don't mean to be a pest about this but when do you expect to have the 24* available.
On layup par 5's, instead of driver, 5 iron, I hit 2 of the elevons. Same distance total-more dependable. Thanks again. I may have to order another 20* because I will wear it out.
My partners and opponents marvel at some of the shots I pull off with " that funky looking thing ".
Keep me posted.

Kevin

First I want to thank John for his excellent service in shipping me this head.

The club, Elevon Hybrid 20*square face, 0 offset, with Rifle 5.5 steel shaft tipped 2", 41" length, velvet grip, swingweight D-6.

I had a 44" rifle blank sitting here and thought, what the heck ! put that in and give this New Head a try. I use rifles in all my irons, so it should be a good fit.
Holy Crap was I right (for once, LOL)
I went to the range before my Monday night golf league and a couple of my Buddies were there also. I pulled the club out of the bag and they both said "what the heck is that club, man is that nice looking" I said, well lets see how it works.

First I warmed up with a few wedges, then pulled it back out.

This club was is smooth as silk. I was shocked !
Ball flight was very high but not ballooning, went out to the 200 yards sign and landed like a butterfly, just the way I like them to.
I was looking for something to hit between 200 & 215 with soft landing to play on par five's and long par 3's
The next dozen balls or so, went just as planned some right on the 200 sign, some a few yards past, hard to tell exact distance.
My 2 buddies hit it also, they loved it, one guy said, "I can't believe how this thing goes" awesome.

Went to play my league round, same results, hit the par 5's in 2 and the long par 3 of 205 right in the center of the green.

Bottom line if you are looking for that distance, this club is truly a winner !!

John

Matt did receive the hybrid club and loves it. I think he is using it to replace the 3-iron and will still carry a 2-iron when he needs to keep the ball low into the tradewinds.

Matt agrees that the Full Release grips are the best game improvement equipment he has ever used. Have you tried the tour-wrap model yet?
George

For what it's worth, the Elevon, shafted with the Accuflex Icon HL shaft at 40.5" is DA BOMB!!! I have already hit many excellent shots with it in just three rounds of use (for example, a 214-yard par-3 that I hit twice in two rounds, and won two "greenies"; plus some great escapes from fairway bunkers where I advanced the ball more than 200 yards - on each occasion on par-5 holes; two tee shots on short par-4s where I wanted to get 215 to 230 yards with my tee shot to set up full wedge shots into the greens). This club is so controllable, and feels really solid! My average distance with it is about 205 to 215 yards, and I can squeeze up to 235 yards out of it without losing accuracy. What a club!
Doug

Sweetest club in my bag..
I'm hitting 200 plus yds.. and exceptionaly straight..
Bob

I am gaining great respect for your ELEVON.(note correct spelling) Had 190 yds into a 30 mph headwind. Carried to back of green about 205. Almost tore the flag off. How about a Elevon that carries about 185 and 170. Are they in the works? If not, think about it because there is amarket of at least one(me) I think you should consider it. They aare really different than any other U-club. Nick

Fit your head into the Izod hybrid shaft with Golf Pride Softie grip @ 40"
length. Couldn't measure swingweight or cpm's because this clubmaking
equipment is still in a packing box somewhere.
Took it out with me to Falkwood Shores in Howell this past Saturday. Had
several comments about how nice the club looked, especially when the shots
went long and straight. Used it on several occasions and it performed very
well. Used it to replace my 4 iron which I hit inconsistently.
First test went well. Now if it keeps performing like this .....
Regards,
George

I had a chance to play the Elevon on the June 5th, an unscheduled last
minute 18-holes. I've only played this once since early May so I was very
rusty and erratic with my swing, generally playing both sides of the
fairway, and the rough, rather than the middle.

The Elevon is superb! I used it on three holes, only three holes with more
than a 5-iron from drive to green. All three shots were with an easy swing;
results were two-long and straight somewhat boring flights that left the
ground very cleanly even though I hit the ground about 2-inches behind the
ball on one shot. The third shot had the same initial results except that I
drilled a high tree limb while hitting from beyond the right rough; decided
to not play a safe shot and the fairway leave was shorter than the Elevon's
distance.
Jim

BTW - The Elevon hybrid is working really great -- I especially like if for the rough, where a 3 iron would be real trouble. Wonderful job, I hope the 24 and 28 degree lofts are on their way.
Ted

Just received the elevon today.havent have a chance to play of golf yet,but by just hitting a few practice balls with it i know that you have a winner in this club.i put a reverse grip on it. The club is a little bit heavier than i play but swinging easy and a good follow thru the ball goes
very straight and long. I've already taken out of my bag the five wood and seven wood.you keep making clubs like this and i just keep on buying them they will help your game very much.

thank you
raymond

Hey John,

I'll tell you this much.  I'm an above average player and have tried just about every OEM hybrid club on the market.  None of them come close to the Elevon/Accuflex combo.  The club sets up square with no offset, it gets the ball up quickly, can be worked right or left, has great distance for a 20* and the paint job on it is incredible.  You should be proud of this head and I'll be first in line when the 24* becomes available

Fish (GEA)

...Saturday afternoon we go play, couldn't wait to hit it and see what she'd do. 1st hole is a short par 4 with no chance to use it. Second hole comes along and I duff my drive to the right which puts me about 215 to the hole. Now's my chance, pull the sock off and away I go. I take a few practice swings to see how she feels and now I'm all set to knock it stiff. Well, let's just say it didn‚t go as I pictured the night before. Duffed it again to the right now I was only 65 yards and pitched it to about 20 feet. Where I later 3 putted but that's another story. So I had to wait to, but luckily for me the next hole was one the holes I pictured this club to be my savior.

Step up to the tee and eye the flag stick 225 yards away. Take my practice swings again and trying not to think about the last swing and take a good cut at it. Got it good, right in the sweet spot. Club felt so solid and so good in my hands that totally forgot about the ball and looked down at the club in amazement. Then over my shoulder I hear, „nice shot Chris. I look up and the ball had dropped on the green 25 feet away from the stick, first time all year I'd made the GIR. Plus I was the only one in my foursome to make the green.

I ended up using it 4 times that day and each and every time I did I was more and more impressed. Even the miss hits felt solid and very forgiving. But its true glory is when you strike it right. Ball flight with that shaft is perfect, nice and strong off the start and light as a feather when it lands. I could not be more pleased. I have never picked up a club and felt so comfortable using it in this short of time frame.

Chris

the ELEVONS ARE

Nick

John-
the club is great. i have played 6 or 7 rounds with it and am more than safisfied. it is very straight, the lack of draw bias is a great feature.

Shaft Choices

Crossfire is the first alloy shaft designed specifically for hybrid clubs and fairway woods. Incorporating True Temper’s revolutionary TX-Technology, Crossfire weighs less than many graphite shafts promoting unmatched accuracy with remarkable distance. Crossfire features a mid-flex tip design to work in conjunction with fairway woods and hybrids to get the ball easily in the air and maintain ultimate control.

Crossfire has already claimed victory on the PGA Tour at the 2003 Valero Texas Open, and is available in a 44” fairway wood and 41” hybrid club version in all standard tip sizes. In addition to its unique design, the shaft features a state-of-the art coating technology giving it a cutting edge bronze metallic appearance.

Accuflex Icon HL Graphite Hybrid
A2 Technology (R,S,X)78 grams, 2.5* torque, mid-low bend, 40.5" long .370 tip
These are designed for Long Irons and the new Hybrid clubs.

The Grip
Feel Golf Full Release Grip

Employing the same logic and principles from other sports, Feel Golf has developed the revolutionary "Full Release" grip, which allows a golfer to fully release the club and attain maximum club head speed. The "Reverse Tapered Technology" design of this grip is thinner in the left hand and thicker in the right hand - similar to the grip of a baseball bat. The new shape of these grips allow the golfer to easily hold the club in the fingers of the left hand promoting a correct grip and allowing the golfer to release the club through impact, virtually reducing or even eliminating the dreaded slice that plagues so many of today's golfers.
